Buzzing...

Mrs Secure came to get me and said,

"Every time I prod this small pile of grass clippings, it buzzes."
To which of course I replied,
"Well, stop prodding it then!"

But having looked up "What lives in grass cuttings in the UK and buzzes?"

I get the Grass-carrier Wasp.

Won't sting unless threatened and is solitary. I don't want to harm it, but I'd like it moved away. How can I move it so neither I nor it gets hurt?

Anyone done this before?

Put the arisings straight into the green bin?

Rake through the pile with a garden fork to break it up, a little bit at a time. Eventually you will spot the thing, and it might fly off, having been disturbed.
