Hi all, while moving some kitchen cabinets I noticed a 6m cable running along the kitchen floor under the units. I have traced it to the elec hob.
Shall I get a 20A juntion box and longer 6m cable and re- route it at a higher level. I can only think that the previous owners must have under estimated the length of cable and took the shortest route to the hob and consumer unit

What you can do is to get some 6mm Flat T+E Cable clips, & clip the 6mm cable up to the wall behied the kitchen units.

The old owner may have run the cable along the floor under the kitchen units, so that they did not have to chase out the wall, for the cable.

what about if i had a flood, I will try to clip to wall but as I said dont think I can stretch cable enough

Contrary to belief, having a cable laying in a pool of water for a short period of time isn't going to do it any harm. The problem comes when you have exposed live parts and connections where water can get in.

what about if i had a flood
It'll get wet . . . . And your problem?

Honestly, water does PVC cable no harm in the short term. We had a flood not long ago, there was water up to the downstairs floorboards, several circuits run under there, the only one that tripped the RCD was the kitchen ring main, which had a junction box down there. Only a few milliamps flowed to earth, because water isn't actually a very good conductor!

Leave it as it is, and do not under any circumstances use a 20A junction box to joint a 30A circuit.
