Any bright ideas on a cable route to an under stair consumer unit.
Its a complete rewire. circuits plus storage heaters, All i can come up with
is 4inch trunking down the wall of the pantry directly below the top step, 90 degree turn and accross the bottom of the wall to the cupboard under the foot of the stair.
I Know its a common place for a unit and wondered if any one had come up with a more elegant solution. I had considered moving the consumer units to the pantry but would need a 100A and a 60A switch fuse (bit steep).

I had a similar problem when re-wiring my house.

Luckily I had a new stair case put in at the time so it was all open, but, consider lifting the floor boards on the landing and passing the cables down the through the floor and down the wall to the CU. There is nearly always space under the steps.

Hope this helps. I know what you mean thou, sometimes you can only do your best without knocking 7 shades out the plaster work.

Lump hammer and chisel COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you oharaf. I agree this is an option but have to question if the cables would be in a safe zone.
The cables would not be 2 inches below/above the surface and not mechanically protected hence the surface mount option.
