Steel conduit is the only type of conduit you may use.

You earth it the same way you do with all steel conduit work.

If you dont already know how to earth steel conduit, this is not something you should be installing.

and its very rare you yould need to go out of the permitted routes, its a bit more work to stay in them but you can go up alonf the ceiling then down, permitted routes is better than protected imo.

or just use dog legs everywhere, horizontal from one fitting and vertial from the other.
