What happened to people’s birthdays and anniversaries etc when the calendar changed from Julian to Gregorian and the date jumped?

I'm only guessing here, but did they work out when the birthday would fall as if the Gregorian calender had been in operation from day one? Thus completely forgetting anything that happened before it?

I think you're confusing that with getting totally lashed on your birthday, which can produce a similar result. ;)

Julian was a bit p*ssed off but Gregory was well chuffed.

Never mind the Gregorian - what about the "Igorian" calendar?

It'll have eating sleeping, shagging & drinking on it...maybe not in that order, though.....
