When we moved in a few years ago we inherited our front door which is modern and fensa registered so we do not want to change it but the door locking mechanism irks me. Our old house had a lever/pad so you could not undo the multipoint locks outside.
I have never had a door handle off - DIY learning is a process!
Our current handle has a lever front and back, they are not at the same height. Both handles will lift and release the multilocks. The only difference is the outside handle will not open the normal keylatch whereas inside will.
IE you shut the door inside and lift the handle to lock in the multipoint, from the outside pushing that handle down will release those multipoints but not open the door.
It just doesn't feel secure enough. I habitually lift the handle when I am at home alone when there really is no point when it can be pushed down from outside.
Appreciate any advice. Thank you.
