Can I change my door handle set up, lever/lever to lever/pad

When we moved in a few years ago we inherited our front door which is modern and fensa registered so we do not want to change it but the door locking mechanism irks me. Our old house had a lever/pad so you could not undo the multipoint locks outside.

I have never had a door handle off - DIY learning is a process!

Our current handle has a lever front and back, they are not at the same height. Both handles will lift and release the multilocks. The only difference is the outside handle will not open the normal keylatch whereas inside will.

IE you shut the door inside and lift the handle to lock in the multipoint, from the outside pushing that handle down will release those multipoints but not open the door.

It just doesn't feel secure enough. I habitually lift the handle when I am at home alone when there really is no point when it can be pushed down from outside.

Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

That's exactly how split spindle handles nprmally work. ..unless you have a slam lock fitted. A slam lock , when it's closed will push a pin on the door lock and engage the locking points . A normal split spindle lock will only stop the latch from being operated so you can't gain entry without the key. The lever pad is just a variation on handles.
In theory you can change the locking mechanism but you'll probably have to change the keep plate too .. and make alterations to the frame and door to get the new lock to fit

Thanks Ronnie.
At our old house we had a lever/pad and when you lifted the handle inside to lock the multipoint up, the handle outside couldn't go down to open those multipoint.
Both require the key to get in but it would be harder for someone to break in if the multipoints would stay locked when the handle on the outside was pushed down.
