Can I change my signature style?

I have a bit of sympathy with my youngest lad. He has had trouble with his bank account: the card doesn't work. He got a new one but it's still the same. He applied for internet banking (which he could only do by post) so he could try and sort this issue out.

On his application was his signature.

A few days later he had a letter back from the bank.

"It appears your signature does not match the one we have on record."

Of course, as a very young person, your writing style and signature is bound the change over the years.

I remember taking and using cheques with a guarantee card. They would compare the signature on the cheque with that on the card. If there was an issue, ask for other ID or 'code 10' phone call, there the bank would speak to the customer on the phone. £50 reward for each stolen card you found.i I found 13 in 8 months I worked using them.

As said earlier, its not the act of signing that is significant. Contracts are formed between people, sometimes documented in writing. Anything significant will need a witness. Nowadays I tend to sign things electronically, even deeds such as LPAs, can be singed and witnessed electronically.
