Hi everyone

I did look at the FAQ but I could not find a definite answer for my query, although this could be due to my ignorance, in which case I do apologize.

The pressure in my boiler (Potterton Promax HE) keeps dropping. I have to fill the system every 2 days! I understand that one of the causes could be a leak, and since I have no leak upstairs it could be under floor boards. However, I have noticed water coming out of the overflow pipe (in my rear patio) does that mean I should look for another cause (other than leak), like the expansion vessel for example?

I also know I have some debri & muck in the system, which I plan to get rid off with a powerflush, but could the muck cause pressure drop??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

thats your prv leaking then on your patio.
you may have crud stuck in the prv making leak.
look under your boiler it has a red knob

if you have water coming out of the "overflow pipe" then that might be your leak.

it is probably a pressure relief valve actually.

once these have been disturbed, they tend not to seal tightly again, especially if there is muck in the system which interferes with the seal. The valve can be replaced. Ask the person who does your powerflush to change it.

be aware that by topping up the system you are causing further corrosion.

WOW very prompt replies, thank you guys

I have no leak from the boiler itself! The PRV is inside the boiler, right?

yes it's under the bottom of boiler with a red knob
you can try opening and closing it a few times.

If the overflow sticking out the wall is connected to the PRV in the boiler, then the expansion vessel is the problem.

What does the gauge read when the boiler heats up
