Can I join alarm cables

Hi I have an old CEF alarm and a few years ago the panel and pir’s were removed. So I am left with a remote keypad at the front door but cable is all buried in wall. If I find the end of it can I extend it with new cable or is this a no-no. Reason for asking is to fit a new alarm

Fine to join it with junction box in an accessible place if possible

yes it can be extended just make sure that you have good contact from the old and the new and that that they cant be shorted out.
