Hi

We've just had some new Velux GGL roof windows installed. They are the finished pinewood with clear varnish (TOPfinish™) type.

We are now wishing we had bought the windows with a painted white finish so I was wondering if it is OK to paint the wooden frames of the windows?

We would lightly sand the pre-varnished frames as best we could and would just use a standard satin paint. I guess I need to know if this will somehow damage the seals or anything and cause leaks? And also is the paint likely to peel?

If anyone has any advise I'd really apprecaite it. :)

No reason why you cant - it just like painting any other peice of timber.

One thing to consider is that the paint may fade quicker than elsewhere due to the greater amount of light it will receive. Thats why they are not normally painted

Thanks for that. Someone had warned me that the paint could corrode the rubber seals in the window so I just thought I'd check!
