Hello. As in the title - is there any reason why I can't put lining paper (Wallrock Fibreliner, specifically) directly onto a decent surface of Thistle Hardwall, rather than skimming it with multifinish first?

The areas in question are relatively small, mostly repair patches and some areas along the bottom of walls. It will be much easier for me to just get one product flush with the surrounding plaster than leaving some depth for a layer of Multifinish as well.

Thanks,

Normal to skim as you say, but if you're happy to paper straight onto Hardwall, then no problem. Just make sure you give it a coat of emulsion before you paper.

If you paper on to fresh board, you will ruin the board when the paper comes off and will all have to be plastered...
