Can I remove a radiator but keep the heating on?

I ned to remove a rad for decorating purposes, but it's the middle of winter. Can I leave the heating on with one rad removed?

Also, any tips on removing / refitting a rad?

1. yes. 2. if u need tips on removing rad , i would suggest getting a plumber in to do it.

There's always a bit of black sludge in the bottom of the radiator that splodges on the carpet.
