Can I replace architrave with tiles?

At last the bathroom is being re-done! It is very small so every cm counts.

If we could take the architrave off the door and tile up to the frame instead, on one side we could have a slightly wider bath and on the other side we could squeeze in a much needed tall narrow cabinet.

Would this look odd do you think?

nope it doesnt look odd, i did it to fit a quadrant shower in my bathroom and if anything it looks better. :LOL:
 
just make shure the frame is firmly secured to the wall to stop cracking or tiles falling off if someone slams the door

If the tiles are fixed well, then they may even crack down the joint betwixt casing and wall.

If they are fixed poorly they may pop off.

You may be ok as long as you have a full tile lapping the joint, but be aware it is a vulnerable location and may not be successful. The first signs of movement will be evidence of grout popping out of the joints.
