Long story short - I have a 2010 ecotec plus that a corroded case and a pinhole leak on the internal cold water copper pipe

Pictures are not great but I want to buy a new Ecotec plus boiler - My question is can the flu and plume kit be reused because thats all boxed in and travles a few metres and I dont want to have to redeocrate

Instead I prefer for a nw valiant boiler to be hung on the same brackets even and reuse the flue - Chatgpt said this is fine as flue the same size and boiler also all backwards compatible

How old is that boiler? 16 years, mine is 18 years old+ and does not look in that state.
Is this corrosion common on Valiant boilers?
If so I would not want to replace with the same for this to happen again.

If the boiler is in that state are you sure the flu is not going to be in as bad a state?

Flue has to last the lifespan of the (new) boiler.
If existing flue is boxed in, are there hatches so it can be inspected at each joint?

How was the leak not noticed before it got to that state?

As said the flue has to last the life of the new boiler.

Its a bad idea on any boiler but a terrible idea on a Vaillant because they are known for poor flue seals at the best of times.

To be honest I wouldn't use any fitter that would connect to the old flue unless they'd taken it apart for inspection and changed the seals.

Is it the redecorating you are trying to avoid or the extra £500 cost??
