Hello, I Have 6mm shower cable running through spare room, this is connected to 40amp breaker. My shower now runs off boiler so could I run a spur off this? Thanks.

Final circuits for sockets are;

A1 Ring, 30 or 32 amp overcurrent device, minimum cable size 2.5 mm2.

A2 Radial, 30 or 32 amp overcurrent device, minimum cable size 4 mm2.

A3 Radial, 20 amp overcurrent device, minimum cable size 2.5 mm2.

Therefore, you would (I assume) be simply extending the shower cable and keep it as a radial, A2 or A3.

If you extend the circuit in 4 or 6 mm2, fit a 30 or 32 amp in place of the 40 amp.

You may well prefer to extend the circuit in 2.5 mm2 cable, as it's cheaper and easier to work with. In this case fit a 20 amp in place of the 40 amp.

What are you planning to spur off from this 6mm cable?
