Just getting some quotes for new softwood windows and I've asked them to quote for tantalised.

The guy has responded saying redwood cannot be tantalised but it can be protomised? What is this?

Google didn't show anything up so I suspect its a typo but before I go back and question it, why can't redwood be tantalised?

thanks

you can tanalise redwood, but it is a water based treatment, so you would not want to treat pre cut bit's of timbers for windows as they would swell.

You want a solvent based treatment.

FYI tanalize and protimsed are really just brand names, and don't specifically refer to a type of treatment.
