Can anybody advise, we have a thorn emi back boiler Housewarmer, which has an ugly fire in front of it. the back boiler is working perfectly our question is can we replace the hideous fire with someone more modern? many thanks in advance.

No. Boiler and fire are one appliance for the purposes of this discussion.........you could replace with a baxi backboiler.....band A and a good electric fire front.
2k plus what ever local guy charge and any other remdials
