Can you get a useful brightness from an external rope-light?

I was considering that but haven't seen any so far. It's the sort of thing modern lights can give you for free... Cool stuffIF you get an RGB rope light and run it at white normally, you can change the colours at xmas
CPC Farnell (www.cpc.farnell.com) are showing a couple of rope lights in their Christmas catalogue, part numbers LP13258 and LP13259. Both are 50m long (lit) 60m overall.
