Can you put a hot water cyl. in the loft

Hi can you put a hot water cylinder in the loft if so what would be the disadvatanges?
I am wanting to use the space to make the bathroom bigger. I am also going to put in a power shower or electric one. There is currently tanks in the loft and am finding it hard to get an answer on what type of shower would be better any help on this would be great as well.

no hot water for start(unless your cws is above).possible to use a fortic.yet you have to think weight.on average your looking at 120-150 kg.dependant on cylinder.

Previous owner of my house put cylinder in loft for same reason. I've had no problem for 25+ years. Bottom of CWS tank needs to be above top of cylinder and cylinder located over or close to a loadbearing wall as previous respondent said/inferred.

Only issue would be need to have good insulation of cylinder and pipework.
 
Depending what your water pessure & flow is like, you could put an unvented cylinder in the loft and get power shower like performance without buying a pump.
