I bought a tyre inflater from Halfords that works from the car's cigarette lighter only to find that the cigarette lighter no longer works.

Does anyone please know if there is such a thing as an adapter or if there is any other way to use the inflater?

Hi
You could take the plug of the pump & use croc clips onto the battery. Make sure you get polarity the right way round.
I would sooner repair the cig lighter socket (might just be a fuse)
Hope this helps.

With the compressor switched on wiggle the plug as it may only be a bad
connection in the socket.

If not try for a blown fuse as already mentioned

Still in trouble, convert to crocodile clips. Just a bit messy if its raining when
you have to use the compressor.

There may be a power socket (cig. lighter socket) with leads attached on
E-Bay, if you want to have a look

has your car got a ciggarrete lighter in the boot because some makes have 2, 1 in the centre console and 1 sometimes in the boot. and if not check for a faulty fuse as mentioned above.

Maybe a bit late, but did you try turning the ignition on?

Sometimes bits of plug break off and prevent the plug going all the way into the socket.

A look with a torch helps.

Not everything bought from Halfords is working out of the box!
