cant find the fuse box

Greetings!

Starting a big job. Completely boarded up windows out side and pitch black inside, and cant see anything. Need the lighting on but first need to find the fuse box. Any ideas where to start looking please?

also would the plan layout of the building from the title deeds help?

Have you found the electric meter? I inherited a jump starter, it has a 300 watt 230 volt outlet, which can power an up lighter, that would be a good start. But the fuse box is normally near to the meter.

A few years ago I used it & got a plan back for gas & leccy, turned out where I wanted to deep dig a border was exactly where both were so that was scuppered, you can use the service line to give you an idea of which wall its on and whether you have a looped supply.

These days you can get pretty decent battery-powered LED work lights cheap as chips. One of these can light up a whole room and last for several hours on one charge. They start around 20 quid I think.
