Greetings!

Starting a big job. Completely boarded up windows out side and pitch black inside, and cant see anything. Need the lighting on but first need to find the fuse box. Any ideas where to start looking please?

also would the plan layout of the building from the title deeds help?

Thanks

Have you found the electric meter? I inherited a jump starter, Back-up-power.jpg it has a 300 watt 230 volt outlet, which can power an up lighter, that would be a good start. But the fuse box is normally near to the meter.

These days you can get pretty decent battery-powered LED work lights cheap as chips. One of these can light up a whole room and last for several hours on one charge. They start around 20 quid I think.

Go through the door go four steps forward three steps back spin round look up and it should be there somewhere.

You could try this and its free for domestic - https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/s...st-plans-showing-where-electricity-cables-are

A few years ago I used it & got a plan back for gas & leccy, turned out where I wanted to deep dig a border was exactly where both were so that was scuppered, you can use the service line to give you an idea of which wall its on and whether you have a looped supply.
I have registered and tried the link again. but it just brings me to a some kind of home page, no real way on searching a property. please see attchement

I have just been on "SP Electricty North West" to find who the supplier is and its coming up blank!

Walk round the edge of the building (inside) check every cupboard etc....it should be but not always closer to the road.

The building is an old cinema with a basement, ground floor and first floor
If it's an old cinema, you're probably looking for something a bit bigger than just a "fusebox". Probably a small plant room full of industrial switchgear.
Far from a certainty, but such things are usually in the basement because that's where the underground services will normally enter from the street.
