We have a Potterton EP2002 in out utility and a Honeywell CM67 in the hall with an add on bit on the side which I understand is something to do with the remote time sync.

How do I get the heating to work properly as we're constantly cold! Potterton is set to run at particular times and heating does come on BUT we can never get Honeywell thermostat over 19 degrees despite asking for 23. House never gets warm. I have Honeywell on MAN - is this right? Should it be AUTO? I can't work it out.

All rads on full but still chilly.

Any ideas? I don't understand how it's supposed to work?
Thanks for reading.

The EP2002 is just a time switch. MAN just means that the heating or will be on constantly, AUTO means the heating will go on and off according to the timings set in the EP2002. If you look online for 'Potterton EP2002 manual', you will find a PDF with instructions to follow.

It's unlikely that the fault lies with the way you set the EP2002. Do your rads all heat up properly? Are the rads hot over all their surface? When you set the stat to 23deg, does the ch stay on, but not reach the temp you set?

House about 15yrs old as is boiler. It died last year but was revived with replacement of parts and a good service. In nov we had brand new kitchen and building works done to open up entire back of house but we didn't touch heating bar updating rad in kitchen. I'm beginning to think its more about insulation and poor work by prev owner. But since switching to MAN tonight it does seem a bit better...

There's no cavity wall insulation, they located thermostat in hall where there is no rad, then built a porch with no insulation and left external door as internal door but no draught strips so its just bloody cold in hall! It's the one area of the house that we haven't touched yet. I've checked all the times on the potterton thing and set the honeywell thermostat to MAN. Rads working - all warm and bled so even heat. Checked tank in airing cupboard all ok and checked old boiler in garage and all working.

So - potterton just controls times and Honeywell just controls temp. But I need to improve the U value of this house! And possibly replace some of the old single panel rads with double fin style.

Thanks for help.

Yes, start with insulation, usually a quick payback in comfort and money. Also look at the sizes of your rads to see if they are correct for the room that each one heats. Also consider adding rads for cold spots, especially hall, as heat will be lost from warm areas to unheated areas.
