Hi

while changing a few floor boards upstairs i found an old gas pipe(looks like it used to supply a gas fire) that has been capped off using a compression fitting.

Is this safe or should it be capped of with a soldered end cap?

Thanks

Technically only compression fittings can be used on gas where they are accesible and not therefore under floorboards. I agree with other posts if it has been there ages leave it.

All *******s, they reckon you cant tighten a compression fitting under floors properly, you can if two boards are up, you can get a pair if 16" stillson in, guess what wont come off in a fire, soldered or compression, mmmmmmmm now let me think
