Aviva tell me I must use their own engineers (ADR) for a repair to my 08 Passat.

I want to use a body shop that I know and trust but the insurance company say I am not allowed!

Is this true?

I am sure ADR are ok but as it is my car I would prefer to use a repairer that I have used before, one who guarantees the work and are vbra approved.

I was with Aviva five years ago and they let me take my car to a repairer that I wanted to use, instead of the one they wanted me to use.

generally you can use your own repairer but may lose courtesy car etc ( small print)
I have had 2 previous car repair 1 by a garage off my choice and one received the cash to do it myself

It's YOUR car...you can do with it as you choose...

The insurance company cannot dictate terms of any repair to you...They may, though, ask for alternative independant quotes or have a quote from their approved repairer. Should any of these be less than that of your chosen repairer they may limit payment to the lowest amount.

Push hard to get your own body shop to do the work. As you will loose
control over the quality of the repair if the insurance company has to much
control over the body shop (giving them allot of work).
Get an independent engineers report carried out and let the insurance
company know you would prefer if they wrote the car off (regardless of the
severity of the repair) and its only a goodwill gesture on your part that you
will even consider repair regardless of who is carrying it out.

Play hard ball from the start, no good talking about a shoddy job when its
to late.
