Hi All

I am going to get carpet fitted on my stairs, but would ideally like to have laminate flooring fitted to the entrance hall floor at the foot of the stairs (i have quite a boggy garden and bring in all sorts of mud when i come through the front door).

Is this something that is quite easy to do? i would be fitting the laminate flooring and the carpet would be fitted by a professional.

Am i right in thinking the laminate flooring would need to be fitted first, then the carpet?

Thanks

Alex

This is what I did. I have a split level house on a hill, so from the front door it's 6 steps down to kitchen/lounge and 9 steps up to bedrooms/bathroom. Also a room and cloakroom at front door level. I laminated the floors at front door and lower level and then had carpet fitted on the stairs. The top step I allowed to be carpeted the size of one tread rather than taking the laminate up to the stair edge. At the bottom the laminate goes right up the the base of the first riser. The top landing is carpeted (bare feet - middle of the night!). I think it looks and works very well.
Poor picture but gives an idea...

excellent! Thats just what i need to do.

Did you put down the laminate first?
