Carronite (or equivalent) is it worth it?

I'm looking at Shower-Baths.

Should I stick with a 5mm Carron shower bath (1700 x 800) or go for the 8mm Carronite option, which seems very expensive to me.

What options are there for DIY reinforcing a 5mm acrylic bath that's to be occasionally used for showering?

Fitted one, very awkward to get up a stairs on your own.It's just a std bath with additional matting over it all, would be quite easy to DIY the additional fibre glass imo.
