Why is this government are so keen to allow "24 hours Casinos" all over the UK ?

I would've thought this will lead to more problem such as marriage problem such as wife/husband beater ?, children suffering, losing your property, gambling addict, drinking problem, higher crime rate to fund the gambling and so on.......

The only benefit are the government which will collect million in taxes.

Am I right or wrong ?

I beleive you are correct. This and all night drinking ... Who does it service ? Are they in a majority across the land ? Who stays up all night drinking and gambling ?
Very sorry for the people already living nearby such planned establishments.

Think I'll take cover in here and gamble on not being spotted ...
Edward Chequers getting near as bad as theme pub... just a better class of person ? or wot ?

Perhaps we could turn Chequers into a casino, you can get the picture, red says invade iraq, black stay at home.. I think we're on to something here. I'll leave it at that I started writing a long ramble, but thought imprudent.

I think it is a bad idea. There are some things which we do in this country, and others we go on holiday for.

The only way to make it safe would be to impose limits on the allowed losses per night. However, to balance it out either the odds would become longer or the winnings would stay very low. Which would make it unprofitable for the casinos, and unattractive for those who do it in case they strike it rich.

We already have gambling in this country: Bingo, bookmakers, even in pubs you are allowed to gamble over games of "pure skill", if the management allows. However, bingo and pub games carry low stakes. I have never seen a businessman stumble out of a bingo hall looking like he wants to die! Of course there are people who go in and lose their week's wages on the horses. This may sound cynical, but perhaps casinos are just another way for this government to r*pe the middle-classes? They can't get us into the bookies except for a fiver on the Grand National, so they have decided on casinos.

Casinos make the rules, you would not, if spotted, be allowed to use methodologies like 'card counting' which apparently is just a skill in itself, and not cheating .. gives the 'punter' an edge.

I, also, fail to see the demand for 24 hour casinos, and think they will do more harm than good.

Grantham has a Teddy's Amusements and the only people you see going in and out are old dears with more money than sense and nothing better to do, and heroin addicts.

Still, maybe if they were in there in the middle of the night I suppose they wouldn't be out burgling...

There will only be 2 winners the gaming industry and the Gov.

I would be suprised if there was the demand for it anyway.Don't get me wrong I have been to Vegas several times and really enjoy it. But that is just when on holiday. When back home the lottery is my only gamble.

I'm beginning to have my doubt's on that too, it's rare to even get a tenner on it!

I know, let's wrap everyone in cotton wool. When they are safely wrapped the government can let us out into the BIG BAD world. Surely we are all responsible for our own actions and if we had a massive casino in every town would it really make a difference. Of course you will get the horror stories but come on, we are all grown ups

Depends how you look at it, if it not there in the first place then people won't be tempted to go there. I have a very close friend who was a gambling addict (age 27) who is now having treatment and he said it all started on a one arm bandit for fun, then went onto bigger bet, he's now a broken man living rough and lost many friends. I know we are all responsible for our own actions but the casino's is not helping the situation. How people do you know that won just £1 or £10 and walk away from the machine (?) they don't all the money goes straight back in !

The only winner are the casino and the government.

I agree mate. The only winners are the companies that run them. I agree that it is addictive. So why dont we close all pubs at 10 at night, stop all day drinking because that is addictive. Ban cigarettes from everywhere because they are addictive. Choice is something we should have. The plus points are what?? The national lottery is gambling and that raises millions for good causes. Admittedly it has spent it's money on some b*****ks. The tax raised might help your pension

Plus, of course, the 99.999999% of people for whom going to a casino is entertainment, and who don't end up with a problem.
