Cast gutters and down pipes

How easy is it to replace cast iron guttering/down pies/soil pipes with plastic? Someone told me that it's a nightmare to get off as it's so heavy? Would I need scaffolding or just ladders ok?

Personally I would use scaffolding. Why not go to your local reclaim merchant and try a few for weight, that may help you make your decision.

Be very careful.
I had a professional to do mine, and he fell off the ladder.
Spent 3 months in hospital, and another 3 months at home before he could work again.
