I need to build some blockwork walls and I want to get the mortar thickness right. The blocks will probably be medium density 140 mm thickness.

Has anybody used the Brikmat system from Catnic? It's not cheap, adding about £3 per square metre to the wall cost, but I like the way that you can slap a bit too much mortar on and then compress it down to the right thickness.

I have reasonable DIY skills but no experience of building walls so anything that helps me to deliver a good, robust job would be good. Does Brikmat fit the bill?

Thanks

That's what you do normally anyway, without brikmat. All you need is the trowel handle and one good eye. So even Gordon Brown could do it!

@Deluks

That's great news:- it gives GB a way out so he doesn't have to re-inact AH's demise in the Fuehrerbunker.

Maybe Gordy's got a bricky tool and is busy bricking up the doors?
