caulk showing through paint

I can't seem to get rid of the shiny finish that decorators caulk (used to fill pits in the plaster) gives through paint. layer after layer after layer and it still shows through. I have tried sanding it but it has a slight rubbery texture which is a pig to take off, hence why it shows to be proud of the plaster.

I am using valspar trade which is a much thicker paint which baffles me even more why it doesn't hide the shine.

Any advice please ?

My go to caulk is Everbuild 125 and if I can't get any, I use the Dow Painters' mate. They tend to be well behaved, that said I have a had a few occasions when they discoloured. When the customer has called me back, I have hit the caulk with Zinsser BIN (a shellac based paint) and then reapplied the emulsion. It works.

I have the Zinsser Bin spray primer stain blocker. I'll try that thanks.

Does anyone know how to get a can working that will not spray. It is still half full and I have cleared the nozzle and put a pin in the centre and stuck a wire into the can's internal components to no avail ?

Sometimes I soak them in an appropriate solvent (household ammonia or meths may help with the BIN). Doesn't always work though. Sometimes I just nick the nozzle from another tin.

Well after using the Zinsser BIN spray, I can still see shiny marks from the caulk underneath. So that didn't work. I have just got a tin of Zinsser ZINGS1L GS1L Gardz Sealer Primer. Could this work ?

The shiny marks may just be the BIN shining/grinning through. My advice would be to apply more emulsion. I would expect 2 coats of Dulux Trade emulsion to suffice, other brands may require a third coat. Nevertheless, the caulk should be stable now.
