I recently put new skirting in the house and screwed it well to the wall. On the gaps between the top of the skirting ad the wall I put plenty of felxible decorators caulk (two layers allowing the first to dry). However, a few months later. The caulking appears to have shrunk leaving gaps - how do I prevent this from happenning?

With kind regards
Malcolm

Did you prime before caulking? bare timber (and plaster) will draw moisture out of the caulk and make it shrink. That said its funny stuff and different brands seem to behave better than others

As DCDEC suggested they all seem to vary. If however you want something that will remain flexible and shrink less then look at products such as CT1, it does cost more though.
