Can I still use the twisted wire butterfly type of wall ties for a house extension?

Can you still get them?

They were deemed large enough to be relevant to cold transfer as well as being a vulnerable condensation point' i.e. large enough to collect dew.

Strong though. 8)

All the houses with them seem to be still standing.

The trick is to cover them before the inspector sees them.

As nose says, can you still get them? The ones now seem to be a hairline single bit of wire. I've got more of a concern about them in a few years time.

I am surprised that you have not guessed!

Already have them!

But are my twisted ones no longer permissible now?

What would an inspector say/do ?

Tony

He should require any already built in to be supplemented with other ties made to whatever the current standard is. Or the wall rebuilt with different ties.

Oh dear, thats a pity!

So it seems that I have to buy new ones then.

And sell off the twisted ones on Ebay or something!
