CCTV BNC Cable tester

What protocol is the existing ( working ptz ) using ? Most modern ptz use a data connection that is transmitted up the coax
Older ptz will use the RS 485 ( a twisted pair to the PTZ ) the hikvision dvrs do support both , some cheaper ones don’t have the RS485
Post some pictures of the rear of your dvr connections
I normally fit 5mp versions of the dvr ( HUHI ) as you will have more choice going forward I have seen some of the older cameras with image issues on new machines but it’s the look of the draw!
Plus cameras are that cheap these days it’s better to swop them out

Hi Mark,

The first photo is the controllers, the left hand joy stick is for the front camera that is not working. The second photo is the rear of the DVR and the third photo is of the wiring from the camera to the controller box for the joystick.

Just an example ….
8 channel
5mp ( think you can have 2 channels at 8MP ) plus you can add ip cameras
2 hard drive bays
poc ( you can fit cameras with just a coax it sends 48v down the cable ) POC compatible only

Many thanks Mark, you are a diamond.

I will order this next week and let you know how I get on.

Andy

Double check with them that your cameras can be used with it before ordering.

How old are your cameras? you may be better getting a complete set that includes newer/better cameras?

Hikvision are backwards compatible ….cvbs-2mp -5mp …..newer machines multiformat …I think after seeing what that new PTZ looks like on a 1080 monitor ….its a different view on cctv ….

Sometimes it's not worth patching up an old system with new kit. "New wine in old bottles"
