Im in the process of having a CCTV set up in my house.

Installed cat6 to all camera points.

My question is that do i need to put in separate power supply ie a 2 core flex
Or shall i use a cat 6 pair.

My only worry is if a use a pair for Power from cat6 will it cause any interference

also a installer advised to use separate power supply to avoid interference .

Is this true

Never had a problem as long as they are not long cable runs and you use quality baluns, quality power supply.

When you say should not be long runs. What is the minimum run before you start having problems.

One of my longest run will be less than 20 metres

you don't use 1 pair for power

use 1 pair for video

use all the remaining pairs for power, in parallel (all solid colours to +, all stripey colours to -) to reduce volt drop
