I have replaced an old ceiling fan/light which was working with a brand new one. However the fan works but the lights do not. Is there anyway I can test the fittings with a multi meter to see of they are faulty and if so how?.

I am not an expert but I have changed other light fittings and sockets in my daughters house and nearly always find loose wires or connections.

Any help anyone can give would be appreciated
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

Does this mean that I can put the probes into the terminal blocks one live and one earth?

If you read the link it will give you some basic instructions on testing.
But if you are measuring for voltage you would test this by testing at
Live to earth
Live to neutral
Neutral to earth

This would then tell you if you have voltage, polarity and in some respect continuity.
