Ceiling rose wiring

That may as well have been Greek fella, but thanks lol.

To be fair with zero knowledge of how this should be wired I'm concerned about making it worse if I start fiddling with it.
Swopping the wire colours will not make any difference IMO.
As its not your house I think you are gonna need an electrician on site.

Get a sparkie in then

In the double switch are the wires to each switch all coming from the same cable? Maybe theres a mix up as the downstairs and upstairs shouldn't interfere with each other.

Not my call, as previously explained had you read the thread
You need to wire it up as a conventional two way, and get rid of (isolate) the wiring on the second switch, Its clearly been bodged from the start.

Or get a sparkie in

I don't NEED to do anything. What part of 'not my house' and 'not my call' isn't clear here?

You have already done quite a lot by interfering with the electrics. A call to a recommended electrician to give a quote to an elderly lady is all that is required.

I haven't interfered with anything. I replaced a ceiling rose like for like, I came on here to make sure it was wired right after experiencing these switching issues, which must have already been present.

So nothing has changed. I have told her she'll need to get a professional to look at the switches, it's up to her now. I don't remember mentioning she was elderly, that's your assumption.

An electrician will regard what you have done as a diyer interference/bodging whether it’s true or not.
