The PC will not run all, and I don't walk around with a phone in my hand all day, and was looking at the EvoHome with a wall mounted unit which you can control a number of rooms from.

dated now, I know, but the idea of a central control which I can use to control and monitor the house instead of using my phone, seems a good idea.

Being able to see battery state of charge, turn lights on/off, adjust room temperatures etc, from a central point seems good. But how? Google Home does seem to combine a lot, but not the power use, the IHD (In home display) seems a bit useless, as by the time it shows importing power, it's a bit late, so maybe a wall mounted tablet can control all and display all, maybe included in a kitchen refurbish?

Basic some form of HMI (Human machine interface) or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)

which is designed for the home rather than a factory. The Google Nest speakers do a reasonable job, but would be nice to have some visual display as well. I have worked with Mitsubishi PLC's and have some spare ones kicking around, but really want something any domestic electrician can fix when I kick the bucket and my wife is on her own. So looking for something designed for the domestic market.

Ideas please.

I have the evohome controller and even have the wall mount option (but never fitted it), The evo home controller rarely gets used and we usually just ask alexa to adjust the room if needed. I am not a big fan of the evohome screen, its a little sluggish and outdated now. But let me be clear the evohome is a great system and honeywell have continued to support it all this time and havent (yet) done what others have and decided to kill off older models just to push newer onces or put a subscription in place etc... so hats off to honeywell.

Personally if I was going to the effort to wall mount a screen then I would look at a tablet with a home assistant dashboard or perhaps the sohos ns panel so I can control more than just 1 thing.

Some device that will read and control all the various tech items in the house would indeed be the best, however we are not there yet.
Despite its complications Home Assistant seems to be the front runner here, though you must determine if the 'integration' for your hardware is supported by HA.
As for Honeywell Evo, I've had one for several years but quickly tired of its 'Time Based Integration' (the mathematical calculus meaning) which would open and close zone valves as room temperature approached the setpoint. Now I use a basic programmer and only use Evo to display the HW temperature.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were a device that could sniff the wifi airwaves and read the values of the various tech items in the house, car, and garden, regardless of their manufacturer?

Thanks, did not realise Evo home used the mark/space control method.
