Hi I am new to this forum, however I am in great need of advice for my problem. We have a FIREBIRD POPULAR 70, Standard Efficiency Boiler, at our backyard. It is an oil boiler and after some unfortunate problem with frozen pipes in Northern Ireland we had to change our pipes leading into the boiler which had burst due to thawing, anyway now I am faced with another problem, our boiler seem to switch off after running for 20-30 mins it trips the mains as well when it goes off. I have bleed every radiator in our house and am 200% confident there are no airlock in the radiator, but after running for just a little while it knocks out, this has been quite tiresome since we have not had any heating apart from our fire place couple of portable heater which are'nt any good since the 19th of december 2010 and our house is absolutely freezing. I would greatly appreciate if any of yous could help me out on this, have I missed anything? I have also made sure the boiler is not wet due to the pipe changing where water would spurt into the boiler and cause any short circuit but if so then it should immediately knock the mains rather going of every 20-30 mins? are there any other problem that I have overlooked? Thank you

If it is tripping after running for 20-30 mins. and taking out the trip at the mains, then look for something that fails when it gets warm. Is it taking out the circuit breaker, or the RCD? If the RCD, then it could be motor or the solenoid. Alternatively, check that there is no loose wires or damp around the thermostats. When they switch over on temperature, they make to an unused terminal which may be in contact with something.
