Central heating loud rumbling noise

Don't know if it helps, and sorry if this is obvious, but I know the pipes running to the underfloor heating run down/under the boiler.

its ok whoever installs the bypass should know which pipes to use, (at least you would hope so !)

Is there a temporary fix I can do until we're out of lockdown?

Remove the head of the motorised valve above the boiler (press in the black button on the left, pull head towards you).
Wrench or plier on valve spindle; gently rotate over the (narrow) range of travel and then leave in the middle of this small range.
Close TRVs on upstairs rads, leaving one e.g. bathroom rad open (fully open if TRV). You have now created a bypass i.e. a permanently open waterway.

Reduce the hours the programmer for the upstairs calls for heat.
You will still find the one rad upstairs will heat when the underfloor zone calls for heat/circulation.

Good luck!
