large house, around 19 rads, 28/22/15mm pipes.

what are the pump options? already has a stand alone pump but been told it could do with a bigger one.

thanks in advance.

Probably get away with a 15/60, probably, how many floors? where's the boiler/pump located? how long are the runs etc...

2 floors, boiler on ground floor, pump in loft space at top of house.

runs are quite long, around 19 rooms.

i think the plumber suggested a 15/60, what other options are there?

most of the rads are off now due to refurbishment, so would like to get everything in place now.

Is it an open system or sealed? If it's open, where's the feed/vent and what's the distance between the pump and header tank?

It's not an ideal set-up and if you upgrade the pump it'd probably need a bigger head of water to work properly, it could draw air and pump over being so close to the header tank.

Seal the system, balance it properly and a 15/60 should do it. If you don't want to seal it how about making it a combined feed/vent?

Have you checked it's not already pumping over? It may be partially blocked at the feed/vent connections. Try running a magnet over the pipes.

Actually, is there a problem with the system or do you just think a bigger pump may be required? If it's working properly just leave it.

last owner had died and house was sold, we went in empty house with system working but two rads in one room where stone cold, rest where fine.

most of the rads are now off, so we wont know till the new rads go back on and the system is run up and balanced.

thanks for your help.
