Hello
Whilst investigating an intermitant fault on my central heating system (which turned out to be a faulty Potterton circuit board) the heating engineers installed a new three-way valve. Whilst the sytem now works perfectly, it regularly emits a loud banging noise when the domestic hot-water programme switches on or switches off. The noise come from the area round the new valve or pump and sounds like very loud water-hammer. (You can hear it from everywhere in the house and it regularly wakes swmbo up in the morning.......not good!).
Could this be due to either a sticking valve or perhaps air still in the system?
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks
