I am trying to replace a honeywell T40 thermostat with a danfoss RMT 230
( with parallel accelerator) when connecting as the wiring diagram shows the boiler operates by the thermostat even when the time clock is set to off.

What was wrong with the Honeywell thermostat?

Please provide the following info as you wired it:

T40 Terminal -- RMT terminal
1 ------------------ ??
2 ------------------ ??

I'm not surprised, I'd also say that you are lucky that the neutral obviously isn't connected at the other end, your T40 wasn't wired correctly either

It should be
T40 Terminal ---------- RMT terminal
1 live -----------------1 Live
2 Neutral ------------- 4 Neutral
3 switched live -------2 switched live

(Edited to cover up embarrassing mistake )

What colours are the cable cores?
.......Harmonised colours...Old colours
..Live = brown .................red
.S/live = black..................yellow
Neutral = grey....................blue
The grey should be sleeved blue on the harmonised colour coding and likewise the blue should be sleeved black on the old colours( but don't count on it)

So you assumed, without checking, that the T40 was faulty.

My fault, I should have made myself clearer.

I was asking which terminal in the RMT did you put the wire from terminal 1 etc of the T40.

The correct answer is:

T40 --- RMT
1 ----------- 1
2 ----------- 4
3 ----------- 2

If you connected like this and still have the same problem, the fault must be somewhere else.

When you said, for the T40: 1 live; 2 Switched live; 3 neutral; were you basing this on the wire colours, e.g 1 was brown/red and 3 was blue/black? That's not a safe thing to do as there is no standard colour scheme for wiring heating systems.

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it?

You may want to review that Mr H ;)
OK, reviewed it and I stand by it.

The T40 (aka t6360) terminals are:

1 - Live IN
2 - Neutral
3 - Switched live OUT

The RMT 230 terminals are:

1 - Live IN
2 - Switched Live OUT
4 - Neutral

Im with matt1e I dont think thats right T40 no 3 to RMT 1 and RMT 2 to heat load
