Can anybody help please? Fault just appeared this week. When I switch on the central heating at the timer, the boiler fires up. If I then switch on the hot water the boiler stops. Have replaced the motorised valve but still nothing.

Thank you - what info do you need?

The boiler shuts down if the hot water control is switched on but works fine if just the central heating is on. Problem is no hot water.

Assumed it was motor - Honeywell - but clearly not.

Assume you have 3-port mid-position valve?

If you turn off the CH you should be able to have HW working on its own. This is because the boiler is controlled by the thermostat on the side of the HW cylinder; the motorized valve is not in circuit.

When CH only is on the motorized valve is in circuit, opens the CH port on the valve and the boiler is lit via a switch in the valve. If both HW and CH are on, the valve is held in the mid position so water can flow out of both branches. If this is not happening the actuator in the valve is faulty, not the motor. Depending on the make and age of valve this will mean either a complete new valve or just a replacement actuator.
