Our combi boiler loses pressure slowly and we keep topping it up. We have had someone look in the boiler and at the radiators but no leak visible. So we have been told it could be a small leak under the floor somwhere. Our kitchen is very cold (no radiator) and when our boiler is on we get condensation from the boiler, dripping on the worktop, is this normal/safe? We have an ideal 24 boiler. Any suggestions will be much appreciated

No it's not normal

It may not be safe

If it's condensate (rather than condensation) then it needs to be looked at (quickly)

It may explain the pressure loss

You need to look if the copper pipe from your boiler that ends outside the house is leaking. If it is, you will need a repair.

You have condensation dripping from your boiler because your kitchen is so cold that when you cook (assuming you do), the air becomes full of moisture and condenses on the cold metal of the boiler.

It shouldn't be a safety hazard, assuming you have an up to date consumer unit (fuseboard)

Where do you get the condensation from on the boiler? Is it a corner? Has the condense pipe become dislodged?

Thanks for getting back, the condensation comes out the bottom of the boiler case. The pipe outside is dry. The condensation is sometimes there in the morning but was there this afternoon when heating was on.

Are you able to take and upload a photo of boiler?

Even though it only does it sometimes? We had 2 plumbers look and they both said they couldn't see any leaks at all in the boiler. They then said we have to lift all our floorboards up to try and find it

Yes even if it’s only sometimes. Lifting your flooring may not be necessary if your boiler is leaking. Sometimes they’re strange, I work on Vaillant boilers and customers say i even had x2 previous engineers and they can’t find a leak, I just know where to look

I hope its on the boiler, the thought of getting all the floorboards up is a nightmare! It usually has the moisture when the boiler has been on for a while then doesn't do it again the whole time it's on, if that makes any sense. We just thought that it was condensation as there is no radiator in there and gets very cold.

@shambolic will probably know where it’s leaking from. You may be better with someone who specialises in ideal boiler repairs or maybe an ideal boilers fixed price repair?
