We are attempting to change the light fitting in our lounge that is connected to two light switches. It has two brown, two blue and an earth wire.

However the light fitting we have purchased only has room for 1 of each wire. We have looked at a number of guides online and some say it is fine to put the two wires into the one connection, others say don't do it as it is a safety issue.

What is the best way to proceed with this?

isn't there just 1 supply cable - and the other cable is the light itself , which you are removing , so that white pendant connector wire will be removed,
and so that will only be left with 1 set of wires in the ceiling rose now - to connect the new fitting to

maybe some pictures further away and with the full new lights fixing, how is it fixed to the ceiling

so you put the ceiling wires only 1 now Brown, Blue & Green/yellow in the other side of the block, which is the bulb connector, assuming you are replacing the ceiling rose with a new fixture from the new light

or have a miss understood the pictures

maybe some pictures further away and with the full new lights fixing
