Real stupid question I'm sure, but has anyone tried to make their fence panels a lighter colour?

The reason I ask is that I'll be putting new panels up over Easter and my good lady has decided that she'd like them to stay a golden brown colour. Unfortunately the rest of the panels, shed, gate etc are all cedar red!! Is there any chance that a couple of coats of a lighter colour will mask the red panels?

Many thanks.

cuprinol shades would do the trick...expensive though!

yes..although it does allow the grain to show (but in outline)

it's water based, so the info on it says that previously treated wood should be 'weathered'..

they do tester pots, so for a quid or so it's worth seeing whether it'll do what you want..

Thanks for that, hadn't realised that there were tester pots available so will give them a try. As you pointed out though, will probably have to take out a second mortgage if I let her persuade me to go for it!!
