Need a little help here guys, have tried searching but couldnt find anything.

A couple of months ago I had my wooden back door changed to double glazing. Before it was changed I took the contacts off and taped them together to stop the alarm going off. They are still sitting on the floor and have not been refitted yet.
Im guessing that I will have to change the type of contact as the old ones were drilled into the door and this is not poss with the double glazing door.
Can anyone help me and direct me as to what I need to do and buy?

Thanks
Paul

Very,
assuming you have 4 wires going to your existing contact, to by-pass it as you have, you have joined, for arguments sake red to yellow and blue to black.

One of these pairs will be the 'tamper pair' the other pair will be the 'contact pair'.

In the new surface contact there will be about 6 or 7 screws, 2 of these will be a different colour to the others, this pair will be the 'contact pair', so for example, join red to one and yellow to the other (contact), the blue/black (tamper) pair go together under one of the remaining screws.

Hope this helps.

ps When fitting your new contact, don't put it too close to the floor, it will get knocked off by the hoover, fit it at the top if you can.

Thanks,it sounds quite easy

The old contact was at the bottom of the door, so unless I extend the cable it will have to stay near the bottom :(
