hi

I'm a handyman and have a customer wanting to change an existing electric hob with another. Am I correct in thinking that I am not able to do this as I have no electrical qualifications.

Just require clarification - sorry if it sounds like a dumbass question, but am aware its fine to change existing fittings, lights etc

thanks in advance

andy

As another unqualified person I'd say from what I've seen here a like for like replacement would be OK for you to do ... but ... I'm no legal expert. I'd say go ahead and do it, checking that the new current rating is suitable for the cicuit that's already there and making sure everything is thoroughly tightened up.

You can do this but make sure you insurance will cover you if anything goes wrong.

But I guarantee it won't

thanks for the replies guys. will go and have a proper look and if I'm not 100% about everything I'll decline

Just make sure the rating of the new hob is not more than the old one.

You may have issues if your new hob is a 16Kw Induction Hob and your supply is only 32Amps....
